Heather's interest in photography began at an early age. "I built my first camera out of legos. By the time I had my first real camera I had my friends posing for me." Heather graduated summa cum laude from the College of Charleston with degrees in both Art History and Studio Art. Now, a Charleston-based commercial photographer, Heather still delights in creating fine-art works. She's been in numerous group exhibits including Picollo Spoleto, where she was awarded honorable mention in 2005.
Heather's commercial interests began as an assistant wedding photographer. "I immediately loved it. Within a year I was taking my own jobs. I love the traditions that surround weddings. I love the ephemeral quality of the day, and that is where my photography comes in. I love being able to capture the moments, the emotions, and the atmosphere of a day that passes so quickly, yet is remembered for so long." Heather's unobtrusive, documentary approach to photography lends itself to creating naturally candid and unique photos. "I don't want any two clients' albums to look alike. I want to give each client work that speaks of them and their character." Heather's work has appeared in such publications as Women's Wear Daily, Charleston Weddings and Lucky Magazine. Read an interview with Heather titled "How to Choose a Photographer: Inside the Artist's Mind".
"Heather was able to artfully capture all of the moments, big and small, at our wedding, including the moments we were too busy to experience ourselves. Not only were the pictures she took amazing, but the experience working with her as our photographer was an absolute joy." --Stacie & Josh
"Thomas and I were so glad that we chose Heather to document our wedding day. We knew that we would be so busy and bombarded with guests that we just wouldn't be able to remember all the details of the events. We are so thankful that we can look back and see again who came to witness our wedding and celebrate with us. All the right moments were captured. The images will be ones we cherish for a lifetime.
Heather was extremely professional. She shot the kinds of photos we wanted. We have an album of real interactions and expressions. Heather wasn't intrusive or demanding. She asked what we really wanted." --Sarah & Thomas
"I really do appreciate the time you have put into Josh and I by making our wedding memories so amazing. I can't thank you enough." --Rebbeca & Josh
"Oh My Goodness! We love you!"
"The photos are great. And honestly, as soon as I saw the first of just our interlocked hands, I burst into tears because I have the same photo of my parents from 20 years ago holding hands. They just turned out beautifully." --Sarah & Tommy
